The website Orphanet.com, dedicated to rare diseases worldwide, is now available in European Portuguese providing information on rare diseases, specialized consultations, clinical trials and patient networks.

Jorge Sequeiros, the Portuguese project coordinator, said to Lusa the site “gathers reliable important information for Portuguese speaking patients and their doctors, and alsoscientists and organizations worldwide.” The Orphanet’s database will also provide information on the epidemiology of  diseases,  inheritance patterns  and genes, to support researchers developing new therapies for rare diseases.
