On Mach 1st Prince Henry Society, MA, honored Peter Pereira with the 2010 Recognition Award, and Paula and Arnie Briden with the Brotherhood Award. Pereira is an award-winning staff photographer for The Standard-Times. Pereira worked with a team of journalists to chronicle the live of Portuguese-Americans in Massachusetts, which led to the publication of “A Nossa Vida: The Portuguese Experience in America.”
Paula and Arnie Briden were honored for being the force behind the success of the food pantry at St. Anthony of Padua church in New Bedford. Under their leadership the food pantry has expanded dramatically and improved not only the quantity, but also the quality of food available for those in need.
The Prince Henry Society was founded in 1980 to preserve the Portuguese heritage in America and support the cultural, economic, educational and social advancement of Portuguese-Americans.
