Little is known about Portuguese poker prodigy José Macedo because he is in hiding. He has not been seen for months given the fact that he was under age at the time he played poker online and amassed a small fortune.
Macedo is said to have made a staggering US$1, 624, 044, 95 profits from an initial deposit of only US$30 at the online Betfair Poker site.
It is illegal to play poker before the age of 18. It is also considered a forgery and a felony to lie about one’s age when playing the game online. If caught felons may get to a minimum of 10 years in a state penitentiary. Minors may get 5 years in Juvenal detention subject to 5 years’ probation.
