Appointed: PALCUS establishes Advisory Council – Community

The Portuguese American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS) announced it has established an Advisory Council to guide and counsel its Board of Directors, propose new programs, and assess current programs.
 
“This Advisory Council will assist in furthering the PALCUS mission, giving the Portuguese-American community an even more audible voice and a more established seat at the table of immigrant communities who are thriving in the United States,” said Chair Katherine S. Soares in a written statement.
 
The roles of a PALCUS’ Advisory Council members are to: uphold the interests of the Portuguese community at the forefront when providing input, guidance, and recommendations; advocate for PALCUS when speaking with others in the Portuguese community; and assist the organization in advancing and implementing strategy and organizational development. Advisory Council members also will recommend nominees who can significantly contribute to the work of PALCUS and the organization’s progress.
 
The Advisory Council will be non-partisan and help advance the goals of PALCUS without voicing partisan political positions and without using PALCUS or affiliation with PALCUS to advance partisan political views.
 
The appointed Advisory Council Members, determined by the Board of Directors to serve in 3-year terms, are:

Founded in 1991, PALCUS is a non-partisan 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to serving the community by advocating for Portuguese-American and Luso-American communities, engaging with government, promoting greater awareness of ethnic accomplishments, encouraging stronger ties between Portugal and the United States, creating a leadership network, and developing programming to advance educational and professional opportunities.
