The Intangible Sharing Cultures (ICH) organizers, the Green Lines Institute for Sustainable Development  and the Instituto dos Museus e da Conservção (IMC) are co-sponsoring the 2nd International Conference on Intangible Heritage  (ICIH) to be held on July 4-6, 2011, at Hotel dos Templários and the Convent of Christ in Tomar, Portugal.

The aim of the conference is to further the discussion on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) issues, under the main topics proposed by the UNESCO Convention.

The conference will gather some of the most prominent researches in this field of study and will include a number of workshops on traditional craftsmanship.

Tomar, one of Portugal’s most historical cities, was the last site of the Templars Order in Europe. Tomar was especially important in the 15th century when it became  the center for scientic research and exploration  leading to Portugal’s overseas expansion under Henry the Navigator, the Grand Master of the Order of Christ, the Templars Order’s site in Portugal.

The conference organizing committee is co-chaired by Professor Sérgio Lira and Professor Rogério Amoêda. Besides Portugal, the scientific committee includes experts from Spain, United States, France, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Japan, and China.
