Walk & Talk: Street Art Festival returns to São Miguel – Azores

The 7th edition of the Walk & Talk Street Art Festival will be held from July 14 through July 29, on São Miguel Island, Azores, with events in Terceira Island from September 29 to October 6.

The street arts festival connects the islands through the arts, with artistic residencies, new interventions in outdoor spaces, exhibitions, performances, concerts, movies, sessions, workshops and thematic conversations.

According to organizers, this year’s 2-week program brings together more than 70 visual and performance artists, architects, designers, musicians, curators and experts, from all over the world to create unprecedented projects that will be displayed in multiple venues and locations on the islands of São Miguel and Terceira.

123w&t pessoasIndividual artists and collectives, curators and speakers will occupy public spaces, working together with local structures, combining artistic residencies, installations, murals, performances, concerts, workshops and seminars.

Guest artists include Akane Moriyama, Atelier JQTS, Benandsebastian, Marc Clintberg, Ricardo Jacinto, Russell Maltz, Spy, Teresa Braula Reis, Tomaz Hipólito.

Launched in 2011 by local artists Diana Sousa and Jesse James, the Walk &Talk Street Art Festival has turned São Miguel Island into an open contemporary art museum comprising of over 200 public art displays by individual creators and collectives in residence. The Walk & Talk Street Art Festival is a nonprofit initiative. All artists participate voluntarily in festival activities – 90% of the work presented is original in the context of the festival.

The Walk & Talk Festival is a member EFFE – Europe for Festivals Festivals for Europe and part of the international arts calendar attracting art enthusiasts from around the world.
