Vinho Verde with Mark Oldman – video

Vinho Verde meaning “green wine” is a Portuguese wine produced by small growers — more than 30, 000 —  from the Minho region of Northern Portugal.

Vinho Verde, which is defined by its aroma, lightness and freshness rather than color, can present itself in many varieties, from golden light  to rose or dark red.

These wines are generally blends of several grapes and the “green” refers to “young” meaning the age at which they are meant to be consumed.

Fairly low in alcohol – from 11% to as high as 12.5% — most light varieties are characterized by a tiny prickle champagne like carbonation that makes them especially refreshing in the summer.  Read more >>
