Portuguese Canadian singer Nelly Furtado is coming out with her new yet-to-be-titled LP in the summer and also touring to promote this follow-up to her multi-platinum selling album, Loose.
Nelly tweeted recently saying, “It’s official: Album out for summer 🙂 and I’ll be out on the road promoting it for at least 2 years cuz I love it!”
She also revealed she has teamed up with Salaam Remi during some sessions for the album. The pair is featured in a short video clip which is circulating on the web. It features a brief interview with Furtado and clips of her and Remi in the studio.
Furtado said that its sound will be in the Remi’s retro “super soulful” mold and of Remi she said, “It’s been a really rewarding, creative and personal relationship. He’s an amazing guy . . . he’s like a big teddy bear . . . and I’ve found all the music he’s recorded . . . from Amy Winehouse to Nas . . . has a classic sound to it.”
Nelly Furtado, 34, as born in Victoria British Columbia, Canada, to Portuguese immigrant parents from the São Miguel Island, in the Azores. Furtado came to fame in 2000 with the release of her debut album Whoa, Nelly!, which featured her breakthrough Grammy Award-winning single I’m Like a Bird. A record producer, singer and song writer, she has sold over 18 million albums worldwide, and currently resides in Toronto.
