For the budget-conscious traveler, Lisbon offers the best hostels in the world . Voted first, second and third best worldwide, for the third consecutive year, three hostels in Lisbon  snagged top honors in the 2010 “Hoscar,” the world’s most prestigious hostel awards, for “excellence in the budget accommodation industry,” 

A survey online, conducted by Hostelworld.com, interviewed more than a million voters who reserved and stayed at hostels around the world last year. Hostelworld.com rated more than 25,000 hostels worldwide over the last year.

 USA Hostels in San Francisco was selected as the best in the United States, also ranked in the top three hostels in North American according to the survey.
