Fernando Pessoa online – Lisbon

The private library of Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) became the first Portuguese library to be fully digitalized and made available online, announced Inês Pedrosa, director of the Casa Fernando Pessoa.

Researchers and scholars will be now able to view 1,317 volumes (of which 1,140 belong to the Casa Fernando Pessoa and the remaining belonging to his heirs). This virtual collection will complete a total of 337,187 digitalized pages and 2,089 files available for free download.

In addition to the books themselves, which can be searched by author, year, alphabetical or thematic categories, researchers will be able to read Pessoa’s annotations on the margins of many pages, poems, texts and notes allowing readers to see Pessoa’s dialogue with his books and have a time travel experience through his life as a writer.
