The Arte Institute is promoting the exhibit “I Love You, Oh, You Pay My Rent”, by emergent Portuguese artists Sandro Resende and Paulo Romão Brás, to take place June 13 through June 18, at the Rogue Space Gallery, 526 West 26th Street, Chelsea, NYC.
The two artists have been working together in various art projects with a focus on the interface between people and objects by using a blend of media to create narratives through the manipulation of objects, photography, drawings and video.
Sandro Resende, who works for the psychiatric Hospital Júlio de Matos, in Lisbon, uses his professional environment to create his narratives. Both Sandro Resende and Paulo Romão Brás have explored the boundaries of mind versus the absurd. Their collaborative work has been featured in various national and international exhibits.
Established in April of 2011, the Arte Institute is a non-profit organization based in New York to promote the Portuguese art and culture. The Arte Institute offers a creative environment for emerging Portuguese artists in the areas of visual arts, literature, music, dance and film. The goal is to foster inter-cultural innovative dialogues between the New York artistic community and Portuguese artists.
