Community | 2024 PALCUS Leadership Awards Gala – Cambridge, MA

Several distinguished personalities, with ties to the Portuguese American community, will be honored at the 26th Leadership Awards Gala promoted by the Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS).

The event will be held on October 11 and 12 at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. State Senators Marc Pacheco and Michael Rodrigues will be the event’s honorary co-chairs.

PALCUS Leadership Awardees are, Paulo Pinto, Community Service; Dr. Dulce Maria Scott, Education; Dr. Paula C. Sociedade, Healthcare Sciences; José Costa Rodrigues, Business; Discovery Language Academy, Educational Institution; Ambassador Robert A. Sherman and Kim Sawyer, International Award; Neemias Queta, Athletic Achievement; Anthony ‘Tony’ Andrade, Founders Award; Leandra Furtado, Young Portuguese American ‘Promessa’ Award.

PALCUS’s main mission is to provide a singular national voice to advocate for the interests of Portuguese Americans in the United States. The event aims to discuss issues related to the Portuguese-American community to promote and secure its legacy and heritage.

The two-day event is also hosting the first ever Portuguese-speaking Community Health Forum, on Friday, October 11, to promote the understanding of the health needs of the community. The Forum, free and open to the public, encompasses all Portuguese-speaking communities including Portuguese, Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Macanese, and others who seek to improve health literacy within the community.  

The 26th Annual Leadership Awards Gala program includes a two-day of workshops and social activities. Registration for the Gala is $100 in person and $45 online (includes breakfast and lunch). Welcome reception: Friday, Oct. 11, 6:30–8:30 p.m. The reception will be for Gala ticket holders only.
