Coimbra: University at Albany-SUNY organizes Portugal Conference – Portugal

The State University of New York at Albany-SUNY is organizing the international “Portugal Conference” to take place on October 25-26, 2012, at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Under the theme “Life Transitions: Contexts and Processes,” the event is a joint effort between the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, at the University at Albany, and the College of Psychology and Education at the University of Coimbra.

The purpose is to bring American and Portuguese faculty and students in educational, school, and counseling psychology together to address multiple transition points and developmental processes in individuals’ lives across diverse contexts.

Topics will focus on transitions in educational, occupational, family and community contexts, with applications for counseling and educational professionals. The conference will foster new international research collaborations between our two departments.

Call for papers invite proposals that focus on particular transitions for individuals or groups at different developmental stages across the lifespan, namely topics such as families in transition, student transitions or school-based transitions, vocational transitions, developmental transitions, risky behaviors for emerging adults, health-based transitions, tools for practitioners in facilitating student or client transitions, and individual- and community-level interventions.

Submissions due, April 30, 2012. For more information  >>
