About the Editor

Kahealani Martins Curammeng, a psychologist and private investigator, has contributed to her expertise in researching family history. Her research focuses on the immigration of Portuguese to Hawaii and on developing resources to help others with their research. She was born and raised in Hawaii, educated in California, and currently lives in Hilo where she was born. Through DNA testing, Kahealani met cousins in Sao Miguel, Acores and spent ten days getting to know them and exploring the homeland of her great-grandparents. Her desire is to leave an enduring, historical legacy to her two children and four grandchildren.
