Appointed: Francisco Semião president of the Alumni Advisory Board – Marymount University, VA

Francisco Semião was appointed the president of the Marymount University Alumni Advisory Board, his alma mater, for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Marymount University Alumni Advisory Board is a volunteer board who assists in advancing the mission of Marymount University by serving as the voice of all alumni to the greater University community.

Semiao’05, who has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness Management  and a  Master’s degree in Health Care Management from the university, is a Senior Director Corporate and Foundation Relations Foundation at MedStar Washington Hospital Center  and the Executive Director of National Organization of Portuguese Americans, Inc. (NOPA)

In his acceptance letter, Semião stated, “It is with great pride and humility that I now serve my beloved alma mater as the 2013-14 president of the Alumni Advisory Board. Marymount has been a major part of my professional life, since I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at MU. I am, therefore, grateful and honored to lead the Board, which supports the advancement of our great university by engaging alumni through programming and services.”

Established in 1950, in Arlington, Virginia, the  Marymount University  is a coeducational four-year Catholic institution offering a wide range of disciplines and degrees to its academic community. Marymount also provides its students a values-based education that promotes both intellectual and spiritual development. Marymount University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees.
