The National Library of Portugal (Biblioteca National de Portugal), based in Lisbon, in partnership with the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), also based in Lisbon, is sponsoring a Research Fellowship Program aimed at American scholars interested in conducting research at the National Library archives.
The National Library Research Fellowship is offered every two years. Researchers, teachers, students, and librarians are encouraged to participate.
Manuscripts and other special collections (maps, prints, music, and literary archives) will be made available to researchers including accessibility for the visually impaired.
Participants may apply for a one month or two month fellowship. Scholarships are available to include a travel expense stipend of €$750 and a living stipend of €1.400 per month.
Application deadline is June 1, 2011.
