He began collecting names, dates, photos, and stories as a boy, and as genealogical technology advanced, so did his research, prompting him to travel abroad to mainland Portugal, the Island of Madeira, and the Azores, specifically the islands of São Miguel and Faial. These visits and his continued exploration of family history gave way to the writing of “An Azorean Family’s History,” a passion project conceived during the worldwide pandemic in 2020.

Keith Tavares, a genealogy aficionado, is a resident of Newport, RI, where he was born. He is a graduate os Boston University, where he majored in political science and history.
