José Macedo “Poker prodigy” joins team – People

José “Girah” Macedo, the now famous “Portuguese Poker Prodigy” has joined Lock Poker as a member of its “LockPRO ELITE” team.

Macedo became recently famous after turning a US $30 initial online poker deposit into US$2 million. The feat is more remarkable when considering Macedo, who is 18 years old, only started playing poker online in 2009.  He has said that he started at the 1 and 2 cent tables for 6 to 10 hours a day.

On a recent press release statement, Macedo said, “I am determined to be the best player in the world, so I wanted to make sure I partnered with the best poker brand. Lock’s focus on the player experience is unique and inspiring and something I truly wanted to associate myself with. I encourage anyone to come and challenge me on Lock, and look forward to the exciting times ahead.”

Very little is known about José Macedo. Apparently he grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, lost his father at the age of four, plays soccer, excels at writing and math, owns a home in Hawaii and attends an international university.

Lock Poker is one of the skins on the Merge Gaming Network, an up-and-coming poker network hosting poker rooms such as Carbon Poker, Poker Nordica, and Iron Duke, and one of the best networks to play poker online.
