In cooperation with the Regional Government and industry of the Azores, the Green Islands Project is underway in partnership with international education and private institutions. The project aims at making the Azorean islands a model for reducing carbon emissions and fight climate changes.
The program, which involves the Azores and other islands around the globe, intends to develop new methodologies to identify cost-effective sustainable energy solutions and options utilizing natural resources that are indigenous to these areas.
The project, monitored by the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), of Boston, in partnership with INESC Porto (Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering) of Porto, Portugal, is in its initial stage of gathering data and information
