Portuguese emerging artists at Bard College – New York

The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College (CCS Bard), Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, and the Hessel Museum of Art, present 13 exhibit art projects by emerging contemporary artists, including Portuguese contemporary artists — João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva —  collectively with Spanish born artist Rubén Grilo.

The collective exhibit “The action of things”  takes place from March 27  to April 17 — curated by Nathan Leewill.

It  comprises of  “a group that investigates inanimate things, more specifically, stones and stars-while challenging the passivity commonly attributed to such objects.”

Lisbon based artists João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva have worked together since 2001, creating objects, installations and short films they describe as” poetic philosophical fiction.”

Their work constitutes an idiosyncratic yet deeply curious investigation into the nature of the world and human existence.
