Azorean Communities Journalism Award 2011- Azores

The Regional Government of the Azores has announced the 2011 Prémio de Jornalismo Comunidades (Azorean Communities Journalism Award) aimed at recognizing journalists that have promoted a better understanding of the Azores and the Azorean communities around the world.

The award will distinguish originality, creativity and research work published between January 1 and October 31, 2011.  A prize of  $2,000 euros will award each one of the following:

The “Azores Emigrant Award” is open to journalists resident in Portugal who have promoted a better understanding of Azorean emigration.

The “Azores Immigrant Award” is open to journalists resident in Portugal who have promoted a better understanding of the immigrant communities in the Azores.

The “Azorean Communities Award” is open to journalists who have promoted a better understanding of the Azores and the Azorean communities abroad, namely in Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, USA, Hawaii and Uruguay.

Submissions should be in the areas of mass media (press and digital), radio, television and photojournalism. Deadline is November 11. For more information.
